Hello All! Renee here
sharing a technique for taking free coloring pages and making them print and
cut files to use for your digi stamps.
The other day, I was a little bored. I wanted to color something and didn’t want
to color anything I already had. So,
first I looked at my usual digital stamp sites and didn’t see anything that
inspired me. Then I started looking at
coloring pages, thinking I might be able to use one of those as a fresh image
to color. I found the cutest big eyed
girls being used on Brats Doll coloring pages.
I vaguely remembered those from when my daughter was a child. But these images were much cuter than the
dolls my daughter used to have.
For my search, I just typed Brats coloring pages. Above is a screen shot of what my search
produced. As you can see, there are tons
of options that could be used for digital stamps.
To make these usable stamps for me, I saved them as a JPEG
and brought them into my silhouette studio program. I sized each image, and then used the program
to trace the outer edge. I am using my
silhouette studio designer edition to make my digital stamps. However, several other programs do print and
cut, so you should be able to get similar results with them as well.
Once you have all your images loaded and traced, you can
copy and paste them to one mat and save that as your print and cut file. At
this point, you first print using your printer through the silhouette program.
You can either color the images before cutting as I did with
the computer girl, or cut them out to color later. I don’t like to waste the coverstock that you
use for coloring, so I always print more images than I need to color for my specific
project. As you can see, I have 3
additional brats girls to color at a later date.
Once you have your images, you then load it on your mat and
run it through the die cut machine that you are using. Here is how my girls look once they have been
cut out.
Now for the fun part.
Use your image to make a card or project. I made another of my new favorite size cards,
a top fold A2 card. I love these. Supplies used are: Cardstock- Bazzill; Die cut machine, oval cut
file and Sentiment cut file-Silhouette; Patterned
paper-Crate Paper Pier collection; Markers-Copic. Color families used: Skin-E13/15/18; Shoes-E29/37/49;
pants-W3/5/7; Top-R81/83/85; laptop-BV25/29; Chair-BG 72/75; lips-R29; Eye
Color-E99.
I hope this short tutorial has inspired you to try out
coloring pages. I know I will look for
more the next time I am looking for images to color.
Nice, I have yet to try the print and cut feature, never enough hours I the day! Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
ReplyDeleteTFS this is a great coloring tutorial!
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial Renee! Time for me to do some more print and cuts with my Cameo. Do you do an offset of your image (to get the white margin around the outside) and use that for your cut line?
ReplyDeleteI always offset my image, just in case my print cuts a little wonky. This is offset a tad more than I usually do. I was trying something new.
DeleteI don't have a Cameo, but I still think this was a good tutorial. I would add to be careful when looking for coloring pages. There are a lot of places that seem okay that have malware waiting to infect your computer...
ReplyDeleteTrina, if you have access to make the cut and I think scal also, you can do this same thing. Thanks for the malware reminder.
DeleteVery nice tutorial!! Now if I knew how to use my Cameo that would be great lol
ReplyDeleteShalana, come join us in the silhouette group on SOC. We will get you rolling with your silhouette.
DeleteAbsolutely I will and I have them all. So yes you have inspired me to pull them out and start coloring. I just needed some motivation! : )
