I'm a big fan of working in themes or collections, and the collection I've been working with the most in the last couple weeks or so, has been the Botanical Tea collection from Graphic 45.
This post is aptly named working on small canvases, because today I have a 6 canvases to share with you... They are each ATCs, made using the Graphic 45 small tags!
I did post these already to the Graphic 45 facebook page, but I wanted to share them with you so you may be inspired to try creating on a smaller canvas.
A "standard" ATC is 2.5" x 3.5". That's not a lot of space, BUT! It's enough space to try out new techniques, use new products, explore with new colours and test new mediums! While my ATCs had a theme, I would love to encourage you to try a new technique, a new product or a new medium to see what you come up with!
Think of ATCs as the place to try things out and if you don't like it, you can scrap it!
I've recently explored new techniques and stamps I had never used before on wooden ATCs as well! They're a bit pricier, but a wonderful base to use heavy bodied mediums or high pressure techniques!
I had so much fun working on them!!
I primed/painted the wood, I used stamp sets I had never used before, I stickled and embossed them and I even used metals on them.
I hope I've inspired you to try out experimenting with smaller canvases! They can be just as much fun as larger canvases and can be a great way to get some self-gratification in a hurry by working on such a small space.
The next step down are inches and twinchies (canvases that are only 1" x 1" and 2"x 2" respectively) and if you're really up for it, then I would try those out too!!
