Getting the most from your patterned paper

Summer simple pleasures by Tena Ellison. Supplies - Patterned Paper: Simple Stories; Twine: Pink Paislee; Ink: Colorbox.

I know for most of us using the right embellishment is an important part of creating a layout. But if you're looking for a way to get the most from your patterned paper while creating a layout with the perfect matching embellishments...try using only your patterned paper. Instead of trying to match different embellishments to your papers, let the paper do the work for you.

I know we all have these great embellishments that we've spent lots of money on but sometimes keeping it simple can be a good thing and a way to change things up, best of all you know your embellishment will match your papers perfectly because they are made with your patterned paper.

For my layout above I used patterned papers from Simple Stories 100 days of summer collection. It's a wonderful line that has great designs, phrases, journaling blocks and a distressed look already on the papers. I simply cut out the banner letters, trees and flowers to match the background sheet. I also used the cut banner letters and part of the journaling block phrase as my title...all from my patterned paper.

This was a fun, simple and easy layout to put together and best of all, no searching around for embellishments.
