So Lucky to be National Craft Month!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! Not only do we get to celebrate this month with green, shamrocks, and gold...it's also National Craft Month! What better reason to "get your craft on!" Well, I wish to bring you a bit o'both! You may have seen these all over the internet...cupcake toppers! They are cute and make for great accents to not only cupcakes, but also as little tags and notes And they are super easy to make!!!
So first gather your materials:

• punches-various sizes
• paper-in whatever shade catches your fancy-I'm using purple and green
• stamp ink and soft sponge-for inking the edges-gives it and extra "umph!
• glue-for the layers
• computer-if you are going to print your design instead of using stickers or traditional embellishments.I used the awesome digital buttons created by one of our very own SOC artists, Aysha!!!-you can find the post for them here!
• ribbon-for an extra touch if using as a tag
• toothpicks-if using as a topper
• love-just your love of making things!

Assemble:

-print or make your design

-punch out your paper

-arrange first how the layers will appear-I like to make sure the back is also decorated

-now edge your papers in the ink color of choice with your sponge-this really sets off the piece!

-glue one side, then adhere toothpick if making a topper


-glue next set then glue on top of first set

-if making a tag-punch hole on top and add ribbon.

-be sure to give them away and delight in the look on their faces! It also helps to have the cupcake!


-Remember that you can make these for any occasion and they make a fun lasting impression. And trust me, everyone will marvel in what you created!!

Like & love

One think I cherish most about the relationship I have with my husband it the fact that we like each other! For us, that is more important than love. Don't get me wrong, I am in love with the man too, but with Like, there is a sense of friendship and companionship I admire. To this day, 12 years into our relationship, we still say we Like and then Love each other! So I wanted to share some old pictures of us through the years in this layout....quite appropriate for this month! I used the free Love Page Template and Let me count the Way digit kit from digital diva, Shellina Guthrie offered in the Scraps of Color magazine. You can go here to download and make your own-but be sure to share what you create with us!!!

When I was making this particular layout, I kept in mind the colors I was going for. Since most of the pictures had a variety of colors, I chose to make them all black and white, so I could keep the red's and pinks consistent. Colors don't clash and the photos still remain the main focal point. I try to remember this when doing multiple photo layouts. And you can too!

As we near the midway of the first month of this new year, I wanted to follow up on Tiara's word for her year with my own...and hopefully get you thinking about your own word!

The journaling reads: One little word....2011 SPARK...light, start, begin, ignite, move, fire, passion.
It's amazing how such a small thing can make such a large impact. When you find that one little word, or rather, when that word finds you, you will sooon find the power to follow through, carry on, and move, like you never have before. One little word is a powerful thing. What is your word?

To Flash or not to Flash!

Namaste! My name is Rani but you can also call me scrapyoga...because a sure fire way to find peace for me is through scrapbooking! A bit about me: I am a self taught digital scrapbooker and love creating on the computer. Like most of you I am always learning and love to share! I am a licensed certified massage therapist, practicing for the past 10 years. Wow-even I am shocked at that! Now don't get me wrong...flash is wonderful...how else could I get those two cuties in the middle?! But using a flash to capture the lights...it's worth the wait for the shutter to click!!!! Don't you think? Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you all!!!
